LUXURY GOLF & TRAVEL AND GOLF CONNOISSEUR TO MERGE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Patience Publishing, a Dallas-based partnership, is acquiring the rights and assets to Luxury Golf & Travel and Golf Connoisseur, both leading titles in the golf and luxury lifestyle arena, and will combine them into one bi-monthly title, beginning with the November/December issue of 2006.

The new title will carry the name Golf Connoisseur, and be re-sized to fit the format of Luxury Golf & Travel. Acclaimed editor James A. Frank will stay on as Golf Connoisseur’s editor in the company’s New York office. Mark Peterson, founder of Luxury Golf & Travel, will fill the role of publisher. The new version of Golf Connoisseur will have an audited circulation of 205,000 and one of the highest demographics of any major American magazine.

“For readers and advertisers, it’s the best of both worlds,” said Reid Slaughter, Patience Publishing’s managing partner. “These two titles fit together perfectly — the real estate and travel of LG&T mixing with the golf and lifestyle coverage of Golf Connoisseur — and will offer the market a product that is unmatched in terms of quality and scope. The new title will be bigger, broader, and profitable.”

Golf Connoisseur made headlines last year when it named “The 100 Most Prestigious Private Clubs in America,” with Pine Valley in Clementon, New Jersey edging out Georgia’s Augusta National for the top spot. Golf Connoisseur knows these private clubs better than anyone, since it is the exclusive, requested magazine of choice for more than 840 of these clubs across America.

As part of the transaction, Patience Publishing is also acquiring the rights to Nicklaus magazine, the signature title of golf legend Jack Nicklaus. Published quarterly, it covers all aspects of the Nicklaus sports empire, including exclusive interviews, first looks at Nicklaus-designed courses around the world, and great historical photographs of the Golden Bear’s storied career.

Luxury Golf & Travel has been based in Park City, Utah and published by Media Partners Publishing. Mr. Peterson founded the five-title company in 2001. Golf Connoisseur was founded by Chris Riggs and Rocky Heinrich of Riggs-Heinrich Media out of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Original investors from both groups will continue to be partners in the new company.

Patience Publishing is headed by publishing executives Wick Allison and Reid Slaughter. Allison is also chairman of D Magazine Partners, which publishes 22 magazines and 9 weekly newspapers. Golf Connoisseur and Nicklaus will be published out of Patience’s Dallas headquarters.
